Julia O’Connor was called to the bar in 2015, and has a civil practice, with a focus on commercial and resources litigation. Julia has appeared led and unled in a range of matters before the Magistrate, District and Supreme Courts, Federal Court, Land Court and Land Appeal Courts.
Julia also has experience as Counsel in commissions of inquiry. In 2015, Julia appeared as Junior Counsel assisting the Grantham Floods Commission of Inquiry and as Junior Counsel representing a party in the Royal Commission for Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Julia draws upon her experience as a solicitor specialising in commercial litigation for 8 years at both national and large mid-tier law firms. During this time, Julia acted for national and multinational corporate clients as well as private clients across the corporate, banking and finance, resources and energy, and agricultural sectors.
Prior to being called to the bar, Julia was a Special Counsel at HopgoodGanim Lawyers in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. Julia holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, a Bachelor of Commerce from Bond University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology.
