Michael Hodge QC
Michael Hodge was called to the Bar in 2004 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 2017. He has an extensive commercial litigation practice with a particular focus on competition and consumer protection, economic regulation, professional negligence, and corporation and securities law.
He has been retained by public companies, directors, SMEs and regulators to advise and appear in relation to complex commercial litigation, regulatory investigations and civil penalty proceedings. He also has substantial experience in relation to major property development and agribusiness disputes in Queensland.
Michael was the counsel assisting the Grantham Floods Commission of Inquiry in 2015 and counsel assisting the Strachan Inquiry in 2016-2017. He assisted with the review of the Queensland Parole System in 2016 and the review of the Transport of Waste into Queensland in 2017.
Before coming to the bar, Michael was the Associate to Justice Holmes in the Supreme Court of Queensland. He holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma in Competition Law from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne. Michael is a member of the Competition and Consumer Committee of the Law Council of Australia.
