31 West Chambers Art Prize

WHAT IS THE 31 WEST CHAMBERS ART PRIZE?

31 West Chambers recognises that Australia has a rich and diverse culture of artists. We are excited to be able to assist all Australian artists, whether emerging or established, in providing a platform for them to showcase their work to a broad audience.

The $10,000 prize will be awarded to an outstanding work by an Australian-based artist, as selected by a panel of judges from the legal profession and the art community.

Are you a seasoned veteran or emerging artist? Specialising in photorealistic graphite drawings, oil portraiture, landscape photography, mixed-media creations, or something new and indescribable entirely? Our walls are beckoning and our criteria open, so all are encouraged to apply.

This was our first year running an art competition. the participation and general response was fantastic - we received 50 entries and short listed 20 for the $10,000 Prize. We thank all of the artists who entered - the standard was exceptional.

We also thank our judges, the Honourable Justice Thomas Bradley and Geraldine Barlow, Curatorial Manager of International Art, at the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art, for giving up their time to decide the winning entry.

Alexandra Matthews is the winner of the 31 West Chambers Art Prize for her entry "Illuminated Nocturne", vividly capturing the fading sunlight in the streets of Paddington, Brisbane.
